2008 / 2009 Legislative Session Summer Recess Summary

Recapping significant legislative action impacting working families for the 2008 – 2009 Session, six pro-labor bills have been signed into law and three have passed one House of the Legislature.  One bill opposed by the New Jersey State AFL-CIO was also signed into law.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks the sponsors of legislation that supports working families and for their leadership on these issues.

We also thank the legislators who have voted in support of these bills.  We urge our affiliates to distribute this information to their membership so they can see which legislators stood with them on issues important to workers, and which legislators did not.

All 80 State Assembly seats are up for election this November 3, 2009.  It is important to support those legislators that have a strong pro-labor voting record.

Governor Corzine has been a strong supporter of these initiatives and we thank him for signing these bills into law and for his continued support of New Jersey working families.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks our affiliated unions for their support of pro-labor legislative initiatives throughout this legislative session, which create a better life for New Jersey workers and their families.
