CONGRATULATIONS: IBEW 827 is First in the Nation to Ratify a Contract with Comcast

The 75 workers at Comcast in Fairfield, New Jersey made history last year by becoming the first Comcast worksite in the country to organize into a union. Last night, they made history again by voting overwhelmingly to ratify a first contract, the first of its kind in the nation.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO sincerely congratulates our IBEW 827 brothers and sisters for their tremendous success. This milestone could not have been achieved without the dedicated commitment of both IBEW 827 and their new members. We thank everyone who poured their hardest efforts and countless hours into this campaign.

By and large, working people recognize that a path to the middle class is achieved through having a voice at the workplace. The fact remains that collective bargaining is the only vehicle which allows workers to exercise that voice.

Once again, we applaud the successful efforts of IBEW 827, which represent a great victory for our shared union values and for collective bargaining in New Jersey.
