Support the NALC “Stamp Out Hunger” National Food Drive, Sat.urday, May 12, 2012
On the second Saturday of every May our nation’s letter carriers pick up food donations to help feed the hungry in our local communities. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the National Associatiletter carriers’ “Stamp Out Hunger” national food drive, the largest one-day food collection event in the country. To make a donation simply leave a bag of nonperishable food items by your mailbox on Saturday, May 12, 2012, and your letter carrier will do the rest.
Your donation will go to help the needy in your community and will be delivered directly to local food banks, pantries, and shelters. In these uncertain economic times, it is more important than ever to come together as a community and help one another.
Hunger is a very real issue in the United States. Sixteen percent of all Americans are at risk of hunger. That includes one in five children under the age of 18, plus four million seniors who are forced every day to choose between paying a utility bill and buying food. You can help to make a difference by participating in this year’s food drive.
Union members are part of the community, and we care about the community. Show your union and community solidarity by making your food donation during the May 12, 2012, “Stamp Out Hunger” national food drive.
