Take Action to Protect New Jersey’s Public Schools

As the school year comes to a close, we are asking you to take two very quick actions to protect our State’s excellent public school system:

1) Please sign the Save Our Schools NJ petition against virtual charter schools and other proposed destructive changes to the New Jersey charter law and get your friends and family to sign it as well.

Each signature generates a letter to Legislative leaders and your Senator and Assembly members, reminding them that New Jersey residents want them to take action to oppose these destructive proposals. The more than 3,700 signatures the petition has collected in the last three weeks has helped build significant Legislative support for taking action, as described in our complete action alert.

2) Please send a quick email to your legislators asking them to protect the school funding formula and to fund our public schools.

The proposed NJ State Budget would change the current school funding formula and would underfund 95% of all school districts across the State by more than $2.5 billion over the next five years. Find out how much funding your school district would lose under the proposed budget.
Thanks to your efforts, Legislators are moving to reject these changes to the school funding formula. We must continue asking them to provide our public schools with the resources necessary for them to thrive.
