New Jersey State AFL-CIO Supports Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. Voter Registration/Education Efforts in the Community

With only 63 days left until Election Day, Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. (WFUNJ) has ramped up its voter registration/education efforts in the community. There has been an outpouring of support from affiliates and community allies, and we in the New Jersey labor movement are proud to support these efforts.

Throughout the summer, union release staff and volunteers have played a crucial part of WFUNJ’s voter registration and outreach efforts in communities such as Mt. Holly, Willingboro, East Orange, and many others. We extend our greatest appreciation to the union leaders who have generously provided release staff and volunteers. These unions include: CWA, IBEW 827, JNESO, and OPEIU 32.

Any unions that are able to provide release staff for the WFUNJ voter registration efforts should contact Lee Sandberg at lsandberg@njaflcio.org or at 609-989-8730.

There is much at stake in the upcoming election. Our socioeconomic future depends on maximizing our participation along with the working families vote. That is why registering voters in the community and issue education is so important. The conversations that we have now will allow voters to make an informed decision on Election Day and hold elected officials accountable for advancing an agenda that creates jobs, invests in infrastructure, and preserves vital community services.

Once again, we thank those unions which have provided release staff and volunteers to support the non-partisan voter registration and community outreach efforts of Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. By promoting participation in the political process, the voice of working families will be heard in New Jersey.
