Congratulations to JNESO D.C. 1 on Recent Organizing Victories

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO applauds JNESO, District Council 1 – the professional health care union – on several successful representation elections over the last several months:

1. After an April 27th unanimous vote to be included in the Nurses Local, we welcomed the Hoboken Case Managers, Clinical Documentation Specialists, and the Nurse Practitioners’ to the bargaining unit. Contract negotiations are coming to a conclusion.

2. Congratulations to the nurses at Bishop McCarthy Residence in Vineland and welcome to the JNESO family. After close to a year of searching for a union to help the nurses to become a unionized facility, JNESO gladly met with a group of very interested nurses who, with the guidance of the staff, filed a petition for union representation. In July these courageous nurses won the right to have a voice at their place of work. Negotiations for the first contract will begin shortly.

3. Mercer Street Friends is now represented by JNESO, District Council 1! Virginia Treacy and Representative Meredith Larson went to meet with the new members of Mercer Street Friends in July.

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO once again congratulates JNESO on its organizing success and welcomes all new members to our union family. By organizing workers and building up the labor movement, we strengthen our voice at the bargaining table and advance efforts to achieve a progressive agenda that benefits all New Jersey working families.
