A fair budget for all parties has been reached in Trenton this evening. Not only is a shutdown avoided, but corporations and the super wealthy will begin to pay their fair share.
Democratic leadership has negotiated in good faith to reach a fair budget, avoiding a repeat of last year’s disastrous shutdown. This will allow public employees to keep providing the high level of service that New Jersey’s taxpayers expect.
We thank Governor Murphy, Senate President Sweeney, and Assembly Speaker Coughlin for their dedication to the working people of New Jersey and their efforts to advance a progressive legislative agenda that benefits everyone. We would also like to thank all the members of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO who lobbied their representatives to ensure a fair budget for all.
