We are calling on all affiliates to provide whatever support they can to our brothers and sisters, who were locked out of their jobs more than four weeks ago by the Shore Point Distributing Company. These 113 workers are members of Teamsters Local 701 and will continue to fight for a fair contract and respect on the job.
You can show your solidarity by joining our brothers and sisters on the picket line which will operate 24/7 in front of the company headquarters located at 100 Shore Point Drive; Freehold, NJ 07728. Don’t forget to wear your union colors.
The community has come together in solidarity for these workers. The company’s products were excluded from the NJ Seafood Festival and many local businesses have followed suit. Negotiations for a new contract began on February 28, 2017. While workers and their union wanted to continue negotiations, Shore Point locked them out on April 30, 2017, because workers would not accept the company’s imposed terms to eliminate pensions, freeze wages for three years and permit changes to employee health insurance and co-pays at any time.
Together, as workers and the community, we will ensure that our brothers and sisters get the respect they deserve.
