Both the IBEW and the CWA have kicked off bargaining with Verizon Communications. Our union brothers and sisters enter into these negotiations hopeful that they can reach a fair and equitable contract for members as quickly as possible.
Informational pickets and rallies are currently taking place around the state. Your support for and at these events is greatly appreciated. For more information, please contact IBEW 827 Recording Secretary Suzanne Wallin at swallin@ibew827.com or 609-443-4100.
Contract terms with major employers, such as Verizon, set the standard for wages and benefits in the telecom industry across the country. As many may be aware, the previous contract negotiations with this employer spanned 18 months and involved a two-week strike by over 40,000 members in the Northeast. Therefore, we will remain vigilant in our effort to ensure that the company bargains in good faith, and we will do whatever it takes to secure a fair contract for workers.
Should a strike be called, we know that we can once again count on your support. We will be sure to update you on these negotiations as well as the best ways to show your solidarity for our IBEW and CWA brothers and sisters.
