Last night the New Jersey State AFL-CIO was proud to join the Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. coalition and over 100 coalition partners at their annual fundraiser.
Working Families United for New Jersey is working on several important projects in 2013, including the recently launched “Raise the Wage” campaign, which has the support of 157 organizations to date. The coalition represents a broad cross section of progressive organizations and constituencies including groups representing African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, labor, religious, women, community, civic, student and retiree groups. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is proud to support this campaign which is of significant importance to low income residents. They deserve a raise!
Working Families United for New Jersey is also doing important work to promote participation in the electoral process by conducting a massive non-partisan voter registration program. Voter registration programs are active in high schools as well as by using a mobile registration center, a state-of-the-art Ford van.
Again, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO was proud to participate in this fundraiser and appreciates the support provided by unions to Working Families United for New Jersey, Inc. Together, this coalition will lay the foundation for continued success in educating, engaging, and empowering New Jersey’s communities.
