The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates the officers, bargaining committee, and members of UNITE HERE Local 54 on reaching an agreement for their first contract at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This new contract entitles 1,780 Hard Rock employees to industry wages along with health & welfare and severance fund benefits.
“President Bob McDevitt and the officers and bargaining committee of UNITE HERE Local 54 have done tremendous work on behalf of their members,” said Charles Wowkanech, President of the New Jersey State AFL-CIO. “This local’s success no doubt raises the standards for all of New Jersey’s workers and strengthens our labor movement as a whole.”
UNITE HERE Local 54 began contract negotiations with Hard Rock in September. The bargaining committee will recommend ratification of the new contract on Thursday, April 11.
UNITE HERE Local 54, Atlantic City’s largest casino workers union, has been one of the key voices in South Jersey’s hospitality industry for over a century. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is extremely proud of the work this local has done to organize and strengthen New Jersey’s labor movement.
