More than a dozen workers at Cannabist, a cultivation and production facility in Vineland, voted to join the UFCW and in October, the State Board of Mediations designated UFCW 152 as their union, allowing both the union and employer to negotiate a contract. The workers, mostly cultivators, are seeking a wage increase, health and safety improvements which include training and access to protective equipment. They are currently meeting with the union, drafting proposals and scheduling negotiation dates.
The UFCW, in New Jersey, has been a strong leader in the development and stabilization of the cannabis industry and we applaud their efforts.
Once again, we congratulate the UFCW on their victories and welcome the new members to our union family.
Working together, we will continue to build a strong labor movement and amplify the voices of all workers at their jobs and in their communities.
