As part of Infrastructure Week 2019, Congressman Donald Norcross, Co-Chair of the Congressional Building Trades Caucus, joined building trade leaders at a press conference on Capitol Hill to discuss the need for infrastructure investments.
“There’s been talk about infrastructure investments in Washington, without real, agreed-upon actions to build,” said Congressman Norcross. “We need to change that, invest, and grow the high-skilled, high-wage jobs that America needs.”
According to the Congressman, the work of the Building Trades Caucus is to invest in our greatest resource: the American worker. “There is no better way to lift up workers, boost our economy and make our communities safer than building for our future,” he said.
Congressmen Norcross and David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va.) launched the Congressional Building Trades Caucus in 2016. The bipartisan effort brings together Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle to discuss issues that affect the millions of men and women who work in the construction industry.
The Building Trades Caucus focused on infrastructure in the 115th Congress and educated members about the American Society of Civil Engineers’ (ASCE) 2017 Infrastructure Report Card, which rated America’s infrastructure a D+.
America’s infrastructure is crumbling. Our roads, bridges, aviation, maritime, rail and transit networks need major upgrades. This would increase safety for all Americans and create and sustain good jobs, thereby boosting the economy and helping working people in every field. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO applauds Congressman Norcross’ efforts to push for bipartisan infrastructure investments and #BuildForTomorrow.
