The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks and commends the Hudson County Board of Chosen Freeholders for unanimously urging the National Labor Relations Board to restart union elections, hear workers’ grievances and rule on unfair labor practices – activities the NLRB suspended on March 19 in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
Under the Trump administration, the understaffed and under-resourced NLRB has consistently sided against labor unions, especially the federally protected right to organize and seek collective bargaining for wages, benefits and working conditions.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO says suspending union-related activities because of the coronavirus is a phony pretext for union-busting.
The Hudson County freeholders have our gratitude for adding their voices loudly and clearly.
