The New Jersey Economic Recovery Act of 2020 is a strong piece of legislation that sets up programs to revive the state’s economy, create jobs and enhance economic development. The bill — A-4 (Pintor Marin / Coughlin) and S-3295 (Ruiz / Sarlo) — also contains several pro-labor provisions designed to ensure workers are paid fairly.
“This bill is exactly what New Jersey needs as our economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we thank the governor and legislative leaders for getting this done,” New Jersey State AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech said. “The addition of prevailing wage, project labor agreements and labor harmony provisions in this revamped incentives plan is a huge boost to working men and women across New Jersey, and will provide thousands of good-paying jobs for our union brothers and sisters.”
We thank the Legislature and Gov. Phil Murphy for coming together on such an important piece of legislation for our economy and our workforce, and urge swift passage.
