Stop Project 2025. Vote!

As the November Election approaches, we must all be informed about what is at stake for working families. Project 2025, a document by Donald Trump and his allies that spells out what they plan to do during a second Trump term.

Catastrophic for all working people, Project 2025 includes proposals to ban all public employee unions, allow states to ban labor unions, eliminate overtime protections, and choose not to follow the national minimum wage. Included in the document as well, are plans to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education.

Project 2025 also details plans to remove civil service protections from federal workers, allowing Trump to fire civil service workers, cut their retirement benefits, and staff the government with unqualified loyalists.

At the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, we are deeply concerned about how these proposed policies would impact the lives of New Jersey’s working families. Project 2025 will put people out of work, drive up costs, and endanger people’s lives as the document proposes to allow small businesses to violate the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s worker safety laws. Project 2025 also makes it harder for working people to exercise their right to organize.

The most effective way to defend our union values and put a stop to Project 2025 is to vote for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the most pro-union presidential administration in U.S. history, on Tuesday, November 5.

Throughout his time in office, Biden has demonstrated his commitment to securing victories for working people, by appointing a pro-union National Labor Relations Board, and as the first president to stand on a picket line.

Project 2025 and the Right to Organize:

The ability to organize is a fundamental right for all workers, allowing working people to come together to improve their working conditions. The Project 2025 agenda threatens this right, outlining punitive policies that prioritize the wellbeing of corporations at the expense of working families.

Encourages Union Busting

The document proposes allowing big corporations to prevent workers from organizing, by hiring union busting consultants to scare off workers who attempt to organize a union.

Makes it Illegal for Employers to Voluntarily Recognize Unions

The document also states plans to create more barriers to organizing by forcing workplaces to hold secret ballot elections for a union, even if the majority of employees wish to unionize.

Lets Employers Take Away Unions Mid-Contract and Retaliate Against Union Organizers

Paving the way for union-busting corporations to get rid of a union while workers are in the middle of a signed union contract, Project 2025 encourages corporations to make an example of organized workers by disciplining or even firing them.

Lets Employers Create their own Sham Company Unions

Project 2025 even allows employers to bypass national labor laws by creating their own employee organizations with sham employee committees organized by employers.

These proposed policies demonstrate a lack of respect for working people and true contempt for the progress made by the labor movement.
