Project Labor Agreements Are Good For Parsippany

Dear Union Member:

The Northwest Jersey Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO is the voice working families in Morris, Sussex, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties. Our work is anchored in making sure everyone who works for a living has family-supporting wages and benefits and the ability to retire with dignity.

We advance legislation throughout the region to create good paying jobs by investing in schools, roads, bridges, and improving the lives of workers through education and training, health and safety, economic justice, and a voice on the job.

Please join us in thanking Parsippany-Troy Hills Mayor James Barberio as well as Township Council members Carifi, Neglia, dePierro and Gragnani for standing up for working families, responsible construction firms, and taxpayers by allowing the use of Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) on township owned construction projects in Parsippany- Troy Hills that exceed Five-Million Dollars.

PLAs govern terms and conditions of employment for all craft workers, ensure workplace health and safety standards and minimize community impact. They ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and that our tax dollars are spent wisely. PLAs are open to both union and non-union contractors alike, they eliminate hidden costs, reduces overruns, and benefits the local economy while creating job training and employment opportunities for the men and women of Parsippany-Troy Hills and Morris County.

Please go to www.njunionstrong.org and add your name to the list of Parsippany residents who want to thank Mayor Barberio and the Council for standing up for Parsippany’s working families and taxpayers.

In Unity,

Michael Pulsinelli

President
