The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates Rep. Chris Smith (CD-4) for being named one of the 25 hardest working members of Congress, according to the conservative media outlet, Newsmax.
Chris Smith has been representing New Jersey’s 4th Congressional District for 35 years, and is now the Dean of New Jersey’s Congressional delegation. The district spreads across the mid-center of the state from the Delaware River to the Jersey Shore, encompassing 44 cities and towns in Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Congressman Smith is a passionate advocate for veterans, victims of human trafficking and children with autism. He consistently ranks among the top five members of Congress in the number of laws authored. He has authored more than 24 laws.
Congressman Smith is a senior member of the Foreign Affairs Committee and the highest ranking House member on both the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe and the Congressional Executive Commission on China. He has long chaired several bipartisan congressional caucuses, or working groups, including Alzheimer’s, Lyme Disease, Refugees and Combatting Anti-Semitism.
