As the unprecedented economic shutdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic enters its second month, more than 10,000 of our union sisters and brothers in the casino industry in Atlantic City are struggling, are in financial limbo and are unable to put food on the table for themselves and their families.
UNITE-HERE Local 54 is coordinating food distributions for ALL CASINO WORKERS through the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. Our brother and sisters have already passed out several tractor-trailer loads of emergency meal kits, and the need is still huge.
Many of you have inquired how you can assist our brothers and sisters who through no fault of their own are experiencing financial and emotional difficulties. The New Jersey State AFL-CIO is asking for donations to the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Community Services Agency Fund. Your generosity will go a long way in providing support with dignity to those in need.
We want our brothers and sisters to know we are there for them, so in the spirit of solidarity, please be generous in this time of crisis.
Please make checks payable to our 501(c)(3) account.
