Shore Nurses will be having an Informational Picket Candlelight Vigil at Shore Medical Center on Friday, December 20, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
In the last two years alone, Shore Medical Center has amassed $27 million in profits. Shore Medical is refusing to reinvest those profits into patient care or support for the dedicated caretakers of people at their most vulnerable. Meanwhile, Shore Medical CEO Ron Johnson has received a raise of more than $110,000.
Shore Medical is profiting off South Jersey’s patients.
This is wrong.
Shore Medical continues to be understaffed. Management is proposing dangerous cuts to our pensions, as well as cuts to employee healthcare, while increasing employee contributions. Additional substantial proposed reductions to hard-earned pay and benefits include cuts to accrued time.
Outsourcing is another issue, as Shore Medical has contracted out many departments to large corporations, forcing long-term employees to re-apply for their jobs at drastically lower wages and benefits. Yet in the course of negotiations, management has dictated terms instead of bargaining with patient care as the priority, leaving nurses and those they care for out in the cold.
Patients and the entire community win when safe staffing levels are achieved, and nurses are treated fairly and with respect. Help us with your support.
