Labor rights. Civil rights. Human rights.
They’re called “rights” because they are right, they are correct, because they make the world better for everyone.
During Black History Month – and every day of the year – the New Jersey State AFL-CIO recognizes how the civil rights movement and the labor movement aligned to add dignity and value to all our brothers and sisters. Activists in our labor movement, right from its start, have worked to guarantee working people all the rights America’s Founders declared in 1776. So have the brave, righteous women and men in the civil rights movement.
A safe, healthy workplace. Adequate time off. Fair wages. Otherwise known as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This is what we stand for. This is what we will always stand for.
