Organizing efforts are off to a strong start in New Jersey this year. The latest victory comes from IBEW Local 827 which welcomed 100 new members to our union family from Altice cable in Oakland, New Jersey.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates Local 827 and those workers who stood strong to make this victory possible. We also recognize Local 827 President Bob Speer, Lead Organizer Joe Lambert and the organizing committee for guiding this process forward.
This is needless to say a challenging political environment for workers seeking to exercise their voice. Yet it is clear that when workers stand together as a union they can harness their collective potential.
With far more problems than answers coming from Washington, DC, the ability of workers to form unions and bargain for a middle class standard of living is more important than ever before. With the solidarity of IBEW 827 and our hundreds of statewide affiliates we will continue to organize and amplify workers voices.
