Labor Day is a celebration of the work we do as well as having jobs that work to support our families and communities. Since their dawn in America, labor unions have been focused on these two overarching goals. While much progress has been made, our work will continue until every job affords workers the dignity and respect they deserve.
In New Jersey, our union brothers and sisters are part of a movement that is second to none in the nation. Our many affiliates work tirelessly every day to reaffirm the values we stand for through labor walks, lobbying, organizing, political mobilization, and workplace actions. Through the State Federation, Central Labor Councils, and Building Trades Councils, we are unifying and amplifying our collective voice to benefit all New Jerseyans.
Now that Labor Day is here, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of your work, whether it’s at a jobsite, plant, office, classroom, hospital, or elsewhere, your skills and contributions are what keep our state running and our labor movement strong.
While we have much to be proud of, there is still considerable work to be done, from funding the TTF and state pension system to reviving Atlantic City and towns impacted by job loss. Let this Labor Day serve as a reminder that our challenges, no matter what sector of the labor movement we come from, are shared. We have come too far to forget that in our solidarity is our strength.
We wish all of our brothers and sisters a happy and healthy Labor Day, and thank you for the talents and dedication you bring to the job and our mission to build a prosperous future for all.
