Labor Walk October 23, 2021
Gov. Phil Murphy personally thanked and applauded our hundreds of brothers and sisters who volunteered in the Monmouth/Ocean County CLC-sponsored labor walk on Saturday, October 23. At IBEW 400 in Wall Township, the governor cheered on the walk participants here and throughout New Jersey.
The governor was joined by New Jersey State AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech, Secretary-Treasurer Laurel Brennan, Monmouth/Ocean CLC President Wyatt Earp and Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, D-11th District, an IBEW 400 brother and endorsed labor candidate.
All over the state on Saturday, thousands of union volunteers fanned out from all Central Labor Councils to Get Out The Vote by educating union families about the labor movement’s endorsed candidates in this year’s crucial election.
Governor Murphy, Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, candidates for the state Legislature and 59 Labor Candidates top the ballot across the Garden State, with Vote-by-Mail and Early Voting now underway.
Our energized union brothers and sisters from every sector of labor in every part of the state delivered timely information highlighting our pro-labor candidates’ records. The flyers our volunteers delivered described our New Jersey State AFL-CIO-endorsed candidates’ commitment to improving New Jersey’s economy, education, health care and other important issues, and our candidates’ dedication to building stronger communities.
But time is running short, and the polls are tightening! Getting Out The Vote will be the key to a pro-union victory.
Be part of history by joining our brothers and sisters on labor walks at New Jersey CLCs next Saturday morning and on Election Day. Vote-by-Mail is underway, with in-person Early Voting also underway through Sunday, October 31, and traditional voting on Election Day November 2.
