New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates win in municipal elections

The voice of working families is amplified

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO congratulates our two Labor 2020 candidates who won their local races in New Jersey’s elections May 12, 2020. When labor candidates run, labor candidates win.

Sister Jamillah Beasley of IUOE 68 has won a full term on the Irvington Township Municipal Council after previously being elected to an unexpired term, and Brother Bob Russo of AFT 6025 was re-elected to the Montclair Township Council.

Two other labor candidates’ races are too close to call and will not be decided until Friday at the earliest.

That brings the New Jersey State AFL-CIO Labor Candidates Program to 1,089 wins since the beginning of the program.

Union brothers and sisters considering a run for public office and who would like to participate in the Labor Candidates Program should contact John Shea III at cope@njaflcio.org.
