The New Jersey State AFL-CIO Honors Our Veterans

On Veterans Day, we recognize and honor the sacrifices made by our veterans who selflessly served their country, and have dedicated their lives to upholding the rights enshrined in our Constitution. By serving in the military,  these men and women have demonstrated a steadfast commitment to our fundamental values as Americans and to protecting the rights and freedoms our country was founded upon.

Thanks to our veterans, every American has the right to participate in our democracy, to join a union, and to collectively bargain. In turn, our labor movement continues to fight for those who have fought for us through the Union Veterans Council which empowers veterans to make their voices heard as our labor movement fights for good jobs and a strong, fully funded and staffed Department of Veterans Affairs.

Additionally, through our New Jersey labor program, our labor movement carries out a boots on the ground effort to elect legislators who support veterans on the issues that matter most to them. Together, we will continue to ensure that our nation’s heroes will always have the benefits they deserve. Our labor movement will always stand by the veterans who have stood by us.

Today we celebrate the heroism and bravery of all of our veterans.
