Together, We Won!

Tonight marks a key victory for our labor movement as Mikie Sherrill has been declared the governor-elect of New Jersey. Throughout her time in office as our congresswoman, Mikie Sherrill has stood with working people on the issues that impact their livelihoods, their communities, and their workplaces. As governor, through her steadfast leadership, she will continue to ensure that working people have a seat at the table and push to expand our hard-won rights that our predecessors have fought and died for. Although our labor movement may have weathered several attacks on our jobs, our right to collectively bargain, and our healthcare, Mikie Sherrill has proven herself to be a fierce advocate for all working people in our state and will fight to ensure that all working people are heard.

We’re proud to announce that we maintained a pro-worker majority in the New Jersey Assembly, as many of our endorsed Assembly candidates were elected to represent us in legislative affairs. We’re also proud to announce that many of our labor candidates were elected to office.

Governor-elect Sherrill’s election is a testament to the strength and unity in our New Jersey labor movement. Through months of unwavering commitment to educating their fellow union brothers and sisters for labor walks, organizing text banks, and reaching out to their members, our union volunteers, our central labor councils, building trades councils, community allies, and our affiliates, carried out a mobilization effort like never before. Their efforts were instrumental in supporting our labor program and in securing this monumental victory.

Once again, we would like to applaud the extraordinary efforts of everyone in the New Jersey labor movement. Each of you played a role in this victory for our labor movement, and for that, we are grateful!
