The New Jersey State AFL-CIO, on behalf of our sisters and brothers in the Communications Workers of America at the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, urges everyone to watch for signs of potentially abusive situations while everyone is staying home to flatten the curve.

The CWA asks that, during this uncertain time, all of New Jersey’s educators, guidance counselors, school nurses and social workers continue to be vigilant.
While families socially distance, many children are at risk for abuse. Everyone should call and check on any families who may be struggling, should give students a “safe word” to use if they’re afraid, and should try to get “eyes on” every child at least once a week.
