On April 28, 2018 the labor movement will once again observe Workers Memorial Day to remember workers killed or injured on the job and to renew the fight for strong safety and health protections. After years of struggle, we have enacted various measures to protect workers from hazards, however our work must continue in terms of both policy and education.
While there is no way to fully recognize the contributions of working people to our nation, we must at least take the necessary steps to ensure that working people never have to sacrifice their safety, their health, or their own lives to make an honest day’s living. It is therefore our privilege to set aside one day out of the year to recognize those workers whose experience reminds us that our job is not yet finished when it comes to workplace safety.
