CODE-U: Stop the Trump Agenda: Affordable Healthcare

CODE-U: Stop the Trump Agenda: Affordable Healthcare

When Trump signed the Big Beautiful Bill Act, he compromised  working people’s access to affordable quality healthcare. In New Jersey alone, the legislation will cut Medicaid funding by $360 million annually and gut hospital and public health funding by $3.3 billion each year making healthcare even more our of reach for working people.

Our hospitals are in jeopardy, as the federal government cut approximately $300 million in direct hospital funding from our state where we will face a dramatic rise in the uninsured and skyrocketing healthcare costs. Up to 350,000 residents are expected to lose NJ FamilyCare/Medicaid as a result. Due to the legislation, there are now 12 hospitals in New Jersey at heightened risk of closure and reduced services. Meanwhile, healthcare workers are saddled with the burden of overcrowded emergency rooms, the inability to maintain safe staffing levels, mass layoffs, and a rise in uncompensated care.

We can’t trust candidates who voted in support of this legislation or endorse Trump’s attacks on working families. Let’s stop the Trump agenda and elect candidates to Congress who will fight for working people and our unions.

By electing candidates who share our union values, we will continue to lead the fight for affordable healthcare in our state. To view a list of our endorsed candidates who will fight to protect our access to healthcare, go to www.njunionstrong.org.
