SOLIDARITY ALERT: National Day of Solidarity with WGAE and SAG/AFTRA

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO President Charles Wowkanech & Secretary Treasurer Laurel Brennan joined with affiliates and members of Writers Guild of America, East and SAG/AFTRA who have been on strike against The Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers, AMPTP for 112 days collectively.

Tuesday, August 22, 2023, was declared a National Day of Solidarity to allow all of us in the labor movement, along with our community allies, to support our siblings and amplify our unified voices for a fair, respectable, and equitable contract!  Also participating in the rally were AFT President Randi Weingarten, SAG-AFTRA New York Local President Ezra Knight, WGA-East member Josh Gondelman, SAG-AFTRA Executive Director, New York Local, Labor Policy & International Rebecca Damon, and New York CLC President Vinnie Alvarez.  These hard-working writers and actors deserve a modern contract that addresses modern issues, such as Artificial Intelligence and other technical abuses that employers are required to negotiate; without a union contract these members have no protections and their jobs can be jeopardized.

We are proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the WGA East and SAG/AFTRA members in solidarity for one day longer!
