Solidarity Alert: Support Nurses and Techs of JNESO in Fight for Fair Contract with St. Michael’s Medical Center

The nurses and techs of JNESO at St. Michael’s Medical Center treated patients during the darkest days of the pandemic, and they continue to heal the sick and save lives in the Newark community. But these healthcare heroes are on strike because St. Michael’s Medical Center insists on denying them the respect and dignity they deserve. St. Michaels is refusing to negotiate a fair contract in earnest. Instead, St. Michael’s is attempting to force the nurses and techs to accept givebacks that include below-standard healthcare and wages, along with unsafe staffing ratios.

JNESO is demanding increased safety precautions to help patients and staff, better health insurance, and addressing pension issues. In response, the Medical Center refused to bargain in good faith, threatened the union’s negotiating team, coerced staffing agency nurses into crossing the picket line, and retaliated against employees. JNESO has filed several unfair labor charges against St. Michael’s.

Now, the nurses and techs are standing up and are on strike!

Support JNESO by joining their picket line. Let’s show St. Michael’s the strength of our solidarity.

DATE: Monday, May 23, 2022 and until further notice
TIME: All Day
PLACE: In front of St. Michael’s Medical Center on the Corner of Martin Luther King Blvd and James St, Newark, NJ 07103
The nurses and techs have been there for us and our families, so let’s be there for them.

Wear your union colors, show your union pride!
