Take Action: Tell Congress to Pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act

Tell Congress to Sign the Discharge Petition and Pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act

In March, President Trump stripped hundreds of thousands of federal workers of their fundamental right as union members to collectively bargain. This union-busting executive order demonstrated just how far this administration would go to silence our labor movement.

The right to join a union, a fundamental freedom that our predecessors fought and died for is on the line.

However, our labor movement has refused to allow Trump to continue his attacks on our unions. Thanks to our collective efforts, a bipartisan bill was introduced in Congress to overturn this executive order. After a majority of members of Congress—Democrats and  Republicans signed on as co-sponsors for that bill, we now have the votes needed to pass the Protect America’s Workforce Act in the House of Representatives.

To quickly bring this bill to a vote on the floor, Congress can use a “discharge petition,” which would significantly speed up the process. To make this happen, we urge every single member of Congress who says they support America’s unions to sign that discharge petition right now.

Click here, or dial Or dial 844-994-4554 to call your member of Congress and urge them to sign the discharge petition for the Protect America’s Workforce Act (H.R. 2550) right now.

At the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, we’re calling on every member of Congress who says they support labor unions to do the right thing for working people, and sign the discharge petition for the Protect America’s Workforce Act.

Together we will continue to fight not only for union members, but all workers, so that they are guaranteed the rights and freedoms they deserve. Solidarity, no matter what!
