House Labor Caucus co-chair Congressman Donald Norcross (CD-1) (IBEW 351) took a strong stand in support of working families by passing a National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) amendment. The amendment prohibits the use of any NDAA funds to carry out Trump’s executive order, which restricts collective bargaining rights for federal employees. The amendment passed in Committee, with three Republicans voting in favor.
“The Trump administration’s executive order tried to silence federal workers and strip away collective bargaining,” said Congressman Norcross in a Facebook post on Wednesday. “Last night, my amendment PASSED out of committee, which gives Department of Defense employees their collective bargaining rights back. The fight isn’t over, but this is a significant win. All federal workers deserve dignity, a voice on the job, and the right to organize.”
At the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, we applaud Congressman Norcross’ commitment to our union values and to protecting the fundamental rights of our members. Congressman Norcross has ensured that the voices of union members are amplified, even as Trump seeks to silence them through his retaliatory union-busting executive orders. Together we will continue to fight for working people. Solidarity, no matter what!
